Apple presented macOS Big Sur during the WWDC 2020 annual keynote that took place today at Cupertino, CA in the US.
The new version 11 is the biggest major update ever made in ten years to macOS. It comes with an entirely revamped user interface, a brand new version of Safari and a lot of new features added to the built-in apps.
The event was also the occasion to announce the transition of Macs to Apple Silicon, a new CPU family based on Arm that will replace Intel-based Macs in the future.
Apple Silicon-based computers will reduce their energy consumption while still delivering business-class performances and will bring iPhone and iPad apps on Mac for the first time.
Apple macOS Big Sur will be available later this year.
